NH Friends & Family Screening

Thanks to everyone who came out to the “Happy Birthday, Harris Malden” screening in NH. I appreciate the support, both morla and monetary.

It was great to share something we’ve spent so much of ourselves on with all of you.

Sundance 2008

Guess who got into Sundance?!
Two hundred films that ARE NOT “Happy Birthday, Harris Malden,” that’s who!

Unfortunately, HBHM was amongst the over 8500 films rejected from The Big Dance.

We’ll travel the Sundance-less road of “Swingers” before us, and make our way into one of the other great festivals out there.

The Juancula Trilogy

Well folks, just wanted to let everyone know what I spent my Saturday doing. This started out as a joke, but 7 hours later I had developed a Horror movie trilogy. And yes, girls still seem to be attracted to me.

Back from LA

Well, we traveled to sunny southern california…Los Angeles to be specific. We had some meetings and a pretty good time. As far as the movie goes, we are working on the opening credits/animation and shooting a couple more scenes. I’d like to thank everyone who’s given us feedback on the film, we have taken it all into consideration as we finish it up.

While in LA, we were on our friends video podcast: Geekscape Episode 47 (the link will subscribe you to the podcast in i-Tunes), which is always a good time. We’ll keep you posted on Happy Birthday Harris Malden, we’ll be doing a NYC screening as soon as we finish these tweaks and additions.

Full Circle.

The dust has settled from the Pregnant Agent incident. I called back and spoke to another assistant (evidently there is a lot of assisting going on in that office) to whom I couldn’t help but relay the Pregnant story.

By that time, she had already Googled us, and was on the website (so that’s what they’re doing when you’re on the phone with them…) and saw the previous blog post.

So it all came together, full circle.

To everyone in that office, Sweaty Robot sends a big Hello, and this disembodied Teddy Bear’s head.

Tales from Hollywood

I wanted to talk to an agent we know about setting up a private screening of Harris Malden at their office. Here’s a rough transcript of the phone call.

Eric: This is Eric Levy for Tracy please.
Assistant: Hold please.

A: Yes.
E: Is this Tracy?
A: (Aggravated) No, she’s having a baby.
E: Like right now?
A: YES.
E: Sooo, should I…I mean, I can call back.
A: Then call back.
E: Unless you’ve got time, I mean, she’s like literally having the baby now…?
A: (Pissy) Yes, what would you like?

I vaguely told her what I wanted, and then decided to call back later. What a weird phone call.

Comedy Group! Comedy Group!

This Friday night four-fifths of Sweaty Robot (Matt’s working in LA for a few days) headed out on the town, making our weekly trip to the 7-11 for ATM, gum, and a cab.

We were stopped along the way by shouts of “COMEDY GROUP! COMEDY GROUP!” At first, we didn’t know what was going on– usually when someone yells at us on the street, it’s less than encouraging.

Sure he didn’t know our name, but he said we were really funny, loved the videos, and pretty much made our night. That’s the first time we’ve had a fan stop us while in a group. I believe he is the 3rd Official Street Fan ever. Boy does that feel good.

In other news, we have a solid rough cut of the movie done, and we’re continuing to work to meet the Sundance submission deadline at the end of the month.

Professional Storyboards

Usually Matt’s brain would piece together a scene without the need for storyboards, but in the one instance we drew something out so everyone would be on the same page. I thought it might be interesting for people to see this funny little image.

That’s a Wrap

Principle photography has wrapped on “Happy Birthday, Harris Malden.” That’s pretty fun to say.

I think we’re all very much ready to move on from the rigors of production. Another week of that, and I think my twitching eye would have exploded, and Matt would have finished that movie he’s been directing in his sleep.

It was amazing seeing the words in our screenplay come to life for the past month.

We’ll have a rough cut assembled soon.

1 More Day :)/:(

We’re back at my grandma’s house (it is still hot in case you were wondering). This is the last day shooting here and the second to last day of shooting. Were gonna have to go into over time (so what’s $0.00×2) and earliest were getting done is 12:30a.m. Plus, on top of that call time is 8a.m tomorrow, so that means we have to get up earlier than that. But tomorrow’s the last day, so I’ll cherish every moment. Tomorrow we are shooting all exterior shots with about nine pages worth of script (from what I know), so it’ll be long day. Were shooting the end of the movie like now, where they have a second birthday for the new Harris and they get him two cakes one reads “Happy Birthday Harris Malden” and the other reads “Happy Birthday Hair Lip” (It’s pretty Funny). They also got some birthday scenes from the first party. They have to get a million different angles of the 2nd b-day shot, but it’s going pretty speedy. I’m gonna try to help out plus it’s hard to type without making noise.

Love;
